Did you know that the three largest credit reporting services, Experian, Transunion and Equifax sell your name, address and credit data to banks and credit card companies?
You can stop this now.
If someone steals a credit card or the blank checks the credit card companies send you it could ruin your credit.
You have the ability to opt out of credit card offers that you receive in the mail or over the phone. If you would like to put a stop to all the offers, you can use the ideas below.
There are four ways to opt out of credit card offers:
- Calling 1-888-5-OPTOUT (1-888-567-8688) to have your name removed from direct marketing lists.
- You can opt out online at OptOutPreScreen.com, which is the official consumer credit reporting industry opt-out website.
- Or you can call each agency separately at the following numbers:

- Writing directly to the Direct Marketing Association at either/or both addresses to opt out of pre-approved offer. Include all pertinent information, including your full name, current address, and home telephone number.

Stop unsolicited telemarketing calls by registering your telephone number online at WWW.DONOTCALL.GOV.
You can also call toll-free at 1-888-382-1222 from the telephone number you wish to register. Registration is free, and will stop most, but not all, telemarketing calls.
